HALF A POUND OF ART 2018
The exhibition HALF A POUND OF ART 2018 will take place from 9th of March until 13th of April 2018. The opening day will be on 8th of March 2018.
Considering the Coliseum in Rome, Michaelangelo's David or the artworks of American abstract expressionists such as Pollock or Rothko, art history tells us that the size of an artwork has often stated it's success. Along the lines of “bigger is better”, smaller in a sort more aesthetic works are overshadowed by their monumental competitors. But their are good reasons why delicacies are always small. Not only by challenging our viewing habits, small sized objects are able to pool the spectator's attention, but also the high artistic and technical quality is often so exquisite that it would get lost in a major realisation. The idea of the exhibition HALF A POUND OF ART is to show exceptional pieces of art in a dimension of approximately 50 x 50 cm, which can easily stick with the Big Boys.
Participating artists: Astrid Köhler from Munich, Chris Leib from California, Dan Lam from Texas, Emilie Steele from Sweden, Kazuhiro Hori from Japan, Marc Gleason from California, Maria Kreyn from Russia, Roos van der Vliet from Amsterdam and many others.
